NOVA SCOTIA DESIGNER CRAFTS COUNCIL
SPECIAL PROJECT ASSISTANT
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Special Project Assistant is responsible for providing support services in a variety of administrative capacities to the Executive Director, the Program Director, and the Board and committees of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council (NSDCC). Specific duties of the Special Project Assistant include, but are not limited to: communications development (written materials, website updates, press releases, etc.); administrative duties (filing, written and oral reports, minute taking, etc.); database development and maintenance; interacting with clients (artists) and volunteers (board and committee members) in a support role; artwork handling (shipping/crating, inventory and coordination); participation in project-related committees; communication and coordination with other crafts councils, agencies, organizations and businesses. The Special Project Assistant will assist with ongoing programs and special projects of the NSDCC as required.
The successful candidate must be adaptable and able to work well under pressure. S/he must have good organizational and administrative skills, and excellent communication skills. Copy writing and editing experience will be considered an asset.
This is an eight-week position (6 July to 28 August inclusive) of 35 hours per week paying $10 per hour. Due to funding considerations eligible applicants will be restricted to individuals who:
- were registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
- intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
- are students in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program;
- are between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
- are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
